Agala universal joint (U-joint / driveshaft) bellows / boot, code 910, is used on Volvo Penta stern drives to protect the universal joint / driveshaft coupling from salt water, mud, and spray, keeping the drive coupling sealed between transmission sections. Made from rubber resistant to salt water and petroleum derivatives, a sound bellows helps prevent premature corrosion and wear of the U-joint; when cracked, torn, or aged, water enters the assembly and can cause binding, noise, and stern drive failure. It should be replaced during routine stern drive service, when replacing bellows in the drive, or when the boot is dry-rotted, split, or leaking. Note on quantity: typically 1 bellows per applicable U-joint service — confirm your stern drive model and boot mouth dimensions.
